Registered Clinical Counsellor
I am a Counsellor with 8 years of experience working in hospital and outpatient treatment programs with both individuals and groups. I assist clients with a wide variety of backgrounds, from first responders to executives to others struggling with their mental health.
Throughout my career in psychotherapy, I adopt evidence-based treatment approaches to induce positive change, while helping my clients to cultivate self-awareness, acceptance and compassion through the embodiment of mindfulness practice. By having the right balance of acceptance and change, we open ourselves to many of life's possibilities, some of which may not initially be apparent.
Life is a challenge itself and I am here to help you to meet the challenge with grace. My clinical approach was deeply inspired by Zen Buddhist Master Thich Nhat Hanh, a global spiritual leader, who pioneered teachings of mindfulness meditation. On one teaching occasion, he said to his audience “You have been running a lot, but you have not arrived.” What he said really resonates with my own personal experience and speaks to the core of human suffering - the pursuit of happiness.
Searching for happiness seems to be our ultimate goal and value in the western world. We have been running our whole life after one thing or another to be happy until we have come to realise the race that we signed up for is not a sprint, but a marathon that never ends. Our society is also very good at programming and shaping our personality to meet the demands and standards of what it meant to be an adult. When the freedom to be who we really are is a luxury, suffering begins.
I hold a master’s degree in clinical psychology at The University of Hong Kong and has previously worked as a clinical psychologist with the local health authority serving a diverse population struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, grief and psychosis.
Interested in mind-body medicine, I am experienced in delivering mindfulness-based program with formal teachers’ training from Oxford Mindfulness Centre (UK) and professional training from Jon Kabat-Zinn.
I speak fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
